Donating Clothes, Shoes, Jewelry & Household Items
Why Donate?
Your donation is important for many reasons. One, your donation is tax deducible. Two, it provides charities with a critical revenue stream that funds their charitable programs and operating costs. Although Unique Thrift Stores are a for-profit business and are not owned by or associated with any charity, we pay our charity partners/vendors for your donations of gently used clothes and reusable household items. Three, your donations are the source of the merchandise we sell that supplies communities with low cost, quality resale items, helps recycling efforts, and provides you with a fun shopping experience.
How to Donate:
Here is a brief description of the 3 ways you can donate your gently used clothes, shoes, jewelry and reusable household items:
1. Our Stores:
You can bring your donation to any of our 17 stores. We will gladly assist you in bringing your items into our store and present you with a tax receipt. This way to donate also gives you the opportunity to shop our store during your visit! Click here to find a Unique Thrift Store near you.
2. Donation Boxes:
We have over 120 donation boxes throughout the Chicagoland area and near all our stores. These boxes provide an easy drive-up option to drop off your donation. Click here to find a collection box near you.
3. Schedule a Donation Pickup at Home:
By working with one of our charity vendors, you can receive an at home pick-up service option. Both the Vietnam Veterans of America and the Military Order of the Purple Heart Service Foundation provide at home pick-up services to numerous areas in the Chicagoland, Cleveland, and Northwest Indiana areas. To request an at home pick-up with one or both of these charities, please click here and complete the brief form. Once your information is received, you will be contacted regarding a pick-up date. If your area is not within the pick-up service area for either or both of these charities, you will also be contacted.
